Foundation & Early Years

Lagelu Grammar School in Ibadan was founded by the Ibadan District Council on January 27, 1958. It was established as part of a larger educational expansion programme. The founding principal, who led the school for its first 10 years, was Chief Ayo Labiyi.

From its early days, the school has been a pillar of educational distinction, producing alumni who have excelled in governance, academia, business, and public service.

Through the decades, the school has evolved — from chalkboards to digital classrooms — yet its spirit remains rooted in discipline, hard work, and community pride.
